WHO.
Welcome to Orphaned Apparel! My name is Heather, and I'm a 26-year-old, Missouri-based photographer, writer, web designer and operator of this blog and shop. My love of fashion started early, as I'm told that whenever I was taken to a clothing store, I'd flap my arms up and down and excitedly yell "Clothsies! Clothsies!" Regular readers will probably notice my love for juxtaposition, asymmetry and deconstruction, as well as my wardrobe's overabundance of horizontal stripes, tiered skirts and Asian prints. Burberry Prorsum, Balmain, Alexander McQueen, Versace, Helmut Lang, Rodarte and Betsey Johnson top my favorite designers list, and I wouldn't mind a lifetime supply of Free People, Evil Twin and Rock & Republic.

WHY.
After much thought spent pondering what to name this little endeavor, the name Orphaned Apparel came to me one day while thrifting. Since I humanize everything, I always manage to feel sorry for the garments that I end up putting back on the rack. "They're orphans just looking for a home!" I thought. After that, I knew what the name had to be.

WHERE.
In 2009, I was featured in the book What I Wore Today: Fashion Remixed Online from Beijing to Berlin and this year I appeared on the Payless ShoeSource home page.

You can find me online at Blogger, Chicisimo, Chictopia, Facebook, Flickr, Last.fm, MySpace, Polyvore, Twitter and Weardrobe, as well as my photography website heatheryarnell.com and my music review site serendipity-media.net.
